We at Flint Housing Union and Flint Neighborhood Stabilization Collaborative, Inc. are working to make our site Flint Housing Union at http://www.flinthousingunion.org  accessible to people with disabilities.

What web accessibility is

An accessible site allows visitors with disabilities to browse the site with the same or a similar level of ease and enjoyment as other visitors. This can be achieved with the capabilities of the system on which the site is operating, and through assistive technologies.

Accessibility adjustments on this site

We have adapted this site in accordance with WCAG 2.2 guidelines, and have made the site accessible to the level of AA. This site's contents have been adapted to work with assistive technologies, such as screen readers and keyboard use. As part of this effort, we have also:

  • Used the Accessibility Wizard to find and fix potential accessibility issues

  • Set the language of the site 

  • Set the content order of the site’s pages

  • Defined clear heading structures on all of the site’s pages

  • ​Implemented color combinations that meet the required color contrast

  • Reduced the use of motion on the site

Declaration of partial compliance with the standard due to third-party content

The accessibility of certain pages on the site depend on contents that do not belong to the organization, and instead belong to Google Forms. The following pages are affected by this: http://www.flinthousingunion.org/join. We therefore declare partial compliance with the standard for these pages.

Accessibility arrangements in this organization

The Flint Housing Union does not operate from a permanent physical office. However, our in-person meetings and events are typically held in reserved rooms at the Flint Public Library, which offers accessible facilities for all visitors.

  • Public Transportation: The library is accessible by multiple public transportation routes, including MTA bus lines, with nearby bus stops featuring curb cuts and ramps.

  • Parking: Accessible parking spaces are available in the main library lot, close to the building entrance.

Building Access

  • Entrances: The main entrance to the library is wheelchair accessible and equipped with automatic doors.

  • Elevators: Elevators are available to access all public floors within the library, with tactile and Braille buttons.

  • Wayfinding: The library includes clear, high-contrast signage and accessible pathfinding throughout the facility.

Meeting Rooms & Services

  • Meeting Locations: Flint Housing Union typically meets in fully accessible public meeting rooms within the library. Specific room details are provided in each event announcement or confirmation.

  • Seating & Layout: Meeting spaces offer flexible seating arrangements to accommodate wheelchairs and mobility devices.

  • Restrooms: Accessible restrooms are available near all meeting areas.

Additional Accessibility Support

  • Hearing Support: Some meeting rooms in the Flint Public Library are equipped with assistive listening systems. Please contact us in advance if you would like to use this feature.

  • Assistance Requests: If you require specific accommodations (such as interpretation services or assistance navigating the space), we encourage you to contact us ahead of the event so we can coordinate support.
